  • Entrants may fish the Nueces River between the city of Uvalde to the south and the city of Vance to the north.

  • Trophies and prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each division.  Ties will be settled by high card drawn from a deck of cards.  The ace counts as the highest card.  An individual may only receive one prize/trophy and may not win multiple divisions regardless of the length of fish and/or the amount of fish caught.
  • The Nueces River holds several species of fish. Fish may be kept or released.  However, entrants should measure each fish prior to its release with the provided tape measurer (provided to each entrant at check-in) to record the length of the fish being released.  Each entrant may wish also record the length of undersized fish prior to releasing them back into the water as it is possible that an undersized fish may be one of the longest fish.
  1. Entrants are encouraged to use public access points as shown on the contest map to enter and exit the river. Do not cross or fish from private land without the land owner’s permission.  Caution is advised when entering and exiting the river as some areas are overgrown, rocky, and may be slippery.
  1. It is the entrant’s responsibility to familiarize themselves with the Texas Parks and Wildlife boating and fishing regulations regarding bag and possession limits. This information may be found at https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/fishing/freshwater-fishing/
  1. Contest participants are expected to display good sportsmanship and the use of alcohol or other drugs is prohibited.
